    Keeps the plates seperated when not in use.

    ATSG recommends leaving these out, but GM put them in for a couple reasons. First, they reduce parasitic drag when 3-4 piston is not applied. Also useful if you build your disc stack on the tight side (.04"). Second, they help keep the plates from applying at high rpm.
